HARYEY HUNT, M, D,
RUDOLPH & HUNT,
J. F. RUDOLPH, EscarrEp JAiL.—Alfred Adams and two
Chinamen named See Chick and Ah Lune escaped from the county jail on*Sunday night.
They had been convicted of grand larceny and .
sentenced to two years’ imprisonment each,
and the Sheriff having arranged to start with .
them for San Quentin yesterday morning, they
were left out in the corridor, as the jail was
supposed to be perfectly secure. They pried
off one of the iron bars used to fasten a cell
door, by means of which they succeeded in dig.
ging a hole through the stone wall large enough .
to enable them to crawl out. The hole was
made at the side of one of the windows. The .
county has lately been at an expense of five .
hundred dollars in putting an extra set of .
grates in the windows, and no one but an ex.
perienced jail-breaker would have supposed it .
possible to dig through the stone wall in the
course of three or four hours. But it was done
in this case. Adams is an experienced rascal,
and has served a term in the State Prison.

urging that the question of levying the tax be

next an election will be held in the several districts of the county for School Trustees. Every legal voter is entitled to take part in the
meetings, and itis to be hoped that more interest will be taken in the matter this year than
there has been heretofore. Dr. Overton, the
School Superintendent, has issued a circular
and sent notices to the Trustees of the several
districts, who are authorized to fix the
