Aevada Be en amet LOCAL MATTERS. ~— —_—_— Tuat Decis1oN.—In the commun ication of Mr. Hupp reference is made to a decision of the District Judge, published in the Democrat a month or two ago. In justice to Judge MeFarland, we will state that the decision was published without his knowledge. It was handed us by Mr. Garber, one of the counsel in the ease, who stated he thought it would be well for the local papers to give to the community the decisions of our local Courts. The decisjon we presume Was not written with any view of publication,{and as no pains had been taken to punctuate the document, the errors referred to may have been occasioned by the compositor not understanding the language used. District Count—March 29th.—Wm. Luke ys. Creditors.Order for final decree of discharge from debts and liabilities. McNecly vs. California Stage Co.—Motion for change of venue denied. Raynor vs. Kidd et al., and Calnan vs. Kidd et al.—Demurrer of defendant Kidd overruled. In the attachment cases against Hagadorn & Bowley, the parties were given until Monday April 7th, to file briefs and answers. Friday, April 4th was set for hearing motions end demurrers, to which day the Court adjourned. Qvaxtz Discovery. Messrs. Sneath & Clay, miners, working on Gold Flat, discovered s quartz lead, one day last week, which bids fair to prove valuable. The cecomposed quartz prospects well, and gold is visible in every piece of solid rock taken from the ledge. It is the intention of the owners to have some of the rock crushed in a mill, with the view of testing it, and if it turns out as rich as there is reason to believe, they will make arrangements for working the ledge, as a quartz mill is now being erected within convenient distance. Sxow Storm .—A severe snow storm set in late last night, and by seven o’clock this morning had fallen to the depth of five or six inches. At times to-day, the snow has been coming down thick and fast, melting about as fast as it fell, and the day has been a dismal one for the time of year. Since seven o’clock this morning, the thermometer has stood at about six degrees above the freezing point. InsaANE.—Wm. H. Odell, who has lived for many years on Shady creek, in Bridgeport township, was brought to Nevada yesterday, examined by a board of physicians, proeounced insane, and was started for the Asylum to-day in charge of an officer. He was perfectly rational a few days ago, but is now a raving maniac. Haneas Corrvus.—Chas H. Hays was committed to jail yesterday, by Justice Holt, of Bridgeport, for refusing to give up a diamond ring, on a proceeding subsequent to execution. He was brought before Judge McFarland in the evening and discharged, on the ground that the Justice exceeded his powers. Pay Gravet.—A company of miners have been engaged for some time in running a tunnel into the hill, near the Glenbrook Race Course. On Thursday afternoon they struck the gravel which prospects favorably. Pe mae CRANE Two Mexicans Kitien.—On Saturday morning last a fracas took place near Tehama, which resulted in two of the party being killed. The following particulars are given by the Red Bluff Independent: It appears that they had a dance or fandango at the house of one of the deceased, and the two men who committed the deed procured . some liquor from Tehama and took it to the . dance. The two men becoming intoxicated were ordered to leave the house by the proprietor, which they did, but returned in about fiffeen minutes and called two of them out, and . when they made their appearance outside of the door they were immediately stabbed, one . of them three times, and the other once. One died almost instant!y the other lived about one hour, The parties in the house refuse to give any information of the direction in which the men fled, but as they are well known to many in this section it is likely they will soon be apprehended. Later rrom Mexico.—The purser of the Golden Age, which arrived at the Bay on Wednesday, furnishes the following intelligence from Mexico: A courier had arrived at Acapulco from the merican Minister, Thomas Corwin, at the city of Mexico, stating his opinion that under the treaty of 1831, and revived by that of 1848, the American citizens residing in Mexican Territory, are in duty bound to pay the same taxes as Mexican citizens pay. The question had arisen in regard to a tax of 2 per cent. upon all capital, foreign or native, used within the Mexican Territory, having been ordered to be collected by President Juarez. The, Prussian Minister, in the absence of all other Ministers, except the United States Minister, protested strongly against the payment of said-tax being enforced, ‘The English and French Admirals of the fleets in the port of Acapulco, protested against the same. Manuoop.— The Transcript’ serioa ly qnestions whether we shall “ever arrive at & proper appreciation of the dignity of manhood,’ Perbaps we never shall io his estimation, but we have too keen an appresiation of what is cowardly and pusillanimeus to draw a pistol on a cripple aad thea boast of it, . ipel Religious Notice. Dr. Young takes this opportunity of observing that all letters . are only opened and replied to by himself, and the latter as promptly as possible. If the case be fully and candidly de-eribed, personal communications will be superceded, as instructions for diet, Teginen, and the general treatment of the case itself, (inclu . ding the remedies,) will be forwarded without delay, and in such a manner as to convey no idea of the purport of the letter or parcel so transmitted. ty Office, 751 Clay street, San Francisco, Consultation gratis.
