To Mriends of Nevada County: There
being an impression among, the ‘‘people’’ that during
the floods at Sacramento recently, I had been ‘‘drowned,”’ or closed my Forwarding department of trade,
canses me to tell you that my Forwarding House has
not been closed three days during the floods, and
was receiving and forwarding goods every day, althongh the water in the store was three feet deep.
Iam yet engaged in the business, and will be so long
as my friends in Nevada county entrust their goods
to my care. I can send goods from Sacramento city
on teams, or on the cars to Linculn, (I have an ageney at Lincoln.) Have goods marked care of Warrr,
Sacramento City, and if you desire them on the cars
by Lincoln, have the goods marked ‘“‘care of Wurrr,
Lincoln,’’ and they will be properly attended to at
either point. Sacramento, however, would be the
best forwarding point. 0, H. P. Warre.
San Francisco, April 5th, 1862.
Messrs, Repineton & Co:
I take pleasure in informing you that I have been
using your excellent Yeast Powders for some time,
and unhesitatingly pronounce them unequaled by
any similar preparation that I have ever used. Every

"Dickson et al. vs. Eddy.—Judgment for

P Horwitz vs. Johnson.--Attachment dismissed.
Venire issued for forty jurors, returnable
Monday week.
Nrvapa Linrary.—Mr. Chas. Marsh will .
go below the first ef next week, and will take
with him about two hundred dollars in money,
belonging to the Nevada Library Association,
for the purchase of books for that society. This
amount will be sufficient to purchase all the
late publications of light literature, and leave .
quite an amount to be invested in works of a
more substantial character. The Nevada Library is now an institution worth patronizing,
and there are many in this community who
should join it, and not throw the burden upon
a few individuals, of keeping up the institution of tbe town.
County Bustness.—The regular term of
the Board of Supervisors commences on Monday next. Partics having business before the
Board, should attend to it in the fore part of
the week, as there is not a great deal of business at this term, and the Board will be in session only a few days, By a special act of the
Legislature, it is made the duty of the Board to
levy the war tax atthis term. It amounts to
fifteen cents on the hundred dollars, and those
who have already paid their taxes on personal
property will be fiable to pay the war tax in
addition. P
QvuaRtTz.—Some weeks ago we chronicled
the discovery of a gold-bearing quartz ledge,
on Gold Flat, by Messrs. Sneath & Clay, which
gave every indication of being immensely rich.
They have recently had eight tons of the rock
crushed at the old Wigham mill, on Gold Flat,
which yielded thirty-eight dollars a ton. This
is nothing like what the rock was expected to
turn out, but even at that rate it will pay well
for working. The owners, not being satisfied
with the test, have made arrangements to have
a few tons crushed at the mill of the Nevada
Quartz Mining Company.
Ratn.—After a cool and cloudy day on the
lat, it commenced raining about eight o'clock
in the evening. During the night there were
several heavy showers, and the rain continued
steadily all day yesterday and lastnight. The
sun has been shining a portion of the time today, but the weather is still unsettled. By dispatches in the Sacramento papers, it appears
the rain has extended pretty much over the
northern and central portions of the State.
It was much needed in the valleys, where the
crops were beginning to suffer for the lack of
moisture.
Reticiovs.—Rev. My. Cummings has s0 .
far recovered from his late illness as to resume services at the brick church, on next Sabbath morning, at eleven o’clock. The Annual
Meeting of the Association of Congreeational
Ministers will be held in this city, on Wednes-.
day next, May 7th, at the brick church, at nine Wholesale & Retail Druggists,
o'clock, A.M. There willl be preaching at the .
church on Tuesday evening the 5th, and on
Wednesday evening the annual sermon will be
delivered—services at half-past seven o’clock.
County Orpexrs.—Parties who have county orders, on the general fund, can probably
dispose of them at par, by snrrendering them .
tothe county. There is now $10,000 in the)
special fund, which can be used for the redemption of orders. The advertisement for
proposals will be seen in another column. The
8 will be opened on Monday, and must be
handed to the Auditor before Monday morning.
For tHe East.—We have received a note
from Mr. J. E. Hamlin, from San Francisco, in
whieh he informs us that he had made arrangements to leave on the steamer of the Ist, for the
Kast. He will probably be absent several
months.
Roppep.— About nine o'clock Thursday
evening, Mr. Henry Hixson was stopped bya
couple of individuals, near the head of East
Broad street, and robbed of two bits—all the
money he had with him.
DesPicaBLE.—The platform at Hixson’s
Grove, used for the May-Day celebration, was
set on fire by some mean wretch, on Thursday
evening, and entirely consumed.
Murper 1x Coivumpra.—An Italian, named
Michael Onetto, was murdered in a very secret
and mysterious manner at Columbia, on the
Ree street, on Saturday evening, April 19.
18 death was caused by a deep stilletto-like

To Correspondents.—Patients residing in
any part of the State, however distant, who may desire the opinion and advice of Dr. Young, on their respective cases, and who think proper to’ submit a
written statement of such, in preference to holding a
personal interview, are respectfully assured that their
communications will be held most sacred, Dr. Young
takes this opportunity of observing that all letters
are only opened and replied to by himself, and the
latter as promptly as possible. Ifthe case be fully
and candidly described, personal communications
will be superceded, as instructions for diet, regimen,
and the general treatment of the case itself, (including the remedies,) will be forwarded without delay,
and in such a manner as to convey no idea of the
purport of the letter or parcel so transmitted,
