Other Locational Data: The subject property is located adjacent to Winchester Street. *P3a. Description: The property consists of a two-story, wood-frame Queen Anne style grammar school that has been converted to a residence that fronts Winchester Street. Character defining features of the home include its hipped roof with lower cross gables and front gable porch roof clad with asphalt shingles, a closed pediment front gable accented gingerbread ornamentation, diamond and round shingles and an arched attic louvered vent, horizontal wood shiplap siding, 6-over-6 light and 1-over-1 light vinyl windows, a small portico with gable accented by round shingles, turned columns and balustrades, a wooden staircase with similar turned posts and balustrades and wooden front entry double doors with transom which is repeated in the south entrance to the building. The historic schoolhouse is accented by a decorative metal fence with iron posts, some brickwork, lawn and mature trees, The school was reportedly built in 1664 and later remodeled in circa 1898. It was originally named Grant School in 1898 in honor of President Grant. The school ceased operating in 1960 and was served as a church for many years until its conversion to a residence. *P3b.
