SPENCE, Druggist & Apothecary, Main St., Nevada. Episcopal Service. Rev. M. Smeathman, will preach at the Court House every Sunday at 3 o’clock P, M. ‘fuxaTnicaL.—Mr. Anderson and Miss Morant made their first appearance before a Nevadaandience last Wednesday evening, and played four nights. The theater was densely crowded on each occasion, thus showing that the people of Nevada are not backward in turning out to witness the performances of a good theatrical company. Had they remained a month we have no doubt the house would have been crowded every evening. Mr. Anderson is regarded by many to be the most accomplished actor upon the American stuge. Of this, we are not qualified to judge, but “take him all in all’ he is certainly superior to any who have appeared in this Stute. His impersonation of the difficult character of Hamlet is so natural and life-like that one is almost disposed to imagine ita reality. He personated successively Claude Melnotie, Charles de Moor, in Schiller’s play of the Robbers, and The Strauger, in each of which he excels, though we regarded Hamlet as hie best character. Miss Morant will rank among the best actresses that have appeared upon the Nevada stage, and her admirable personatione were rapturously received by discriminating audiences. They performed in — Valley on Monday and yesterday even2. 28-tf Nevada Royal Arch Chapter No. 6, meets every Monday evening, at Masonic Hall, Nevada. Regular meetings, first Monday of each month. AMPUTATION anp Deatu.—Mr. Moses St. John, whose leg was so terribly crushed at Gold Hill, on the 25th ult., an aceount of which we gave last week, was brought to Nevada and placed in the county hospital. The foot and ankle soon commenced mortifying, aud on Friday the limb was amputated below the knee. The operation was verformed by Drs. H. and R. M. Hunt. The leg was crushed about midway between the ankle and knee, but it appears the cords and nerves were injured much higher, and the mortification continued to extend up the leg. The patient grieved very much for the loss of his limb, ,and stated that he would rather die than live. He became delirious soon after the operation was performed, in which condition he continued until two o'clock yesterday morning, when he died. The deceased was formerly from Canada, and has resided in California about a year. Brera AssavLt.—A moon-eyed daughter of the flowery kingdom, residing on Commercial street, was knocked down and severely injured Monday night. It appears she was standing in the door of a Chinese house, when some one who was passing, struck her on the head with a club, for fun, cutting a dreadful gash across the the forehead, and rendering her recovery doubtful.
