Morris was stabbed in the back, last Tuesday evening, by a black man named Scott Stevens, It appears that the parties got into an altercation, . when Morris struck Stevens, and the latter returned the compliment by striking back with his knife, inflicting a severe but not dongerous wound. The affair took place on Spring street, in rear of the Methodist church. six years ago Morris was convicted of an assault with intent to kill a Chinaman, in this place, and sentenced to the State Prison for . tive years. years ago, and has since been living near Nevada, engaged most of the time in mining. He had been standing on the raised platform during the latter part of the performance, and in jumping down the little finger of his right hand caught on the back of the seat in such a inanner as to almost entire. iy sever it from his hand. The bone was bro. ken, and the flesh torn so that it remained at. tached t8 the hand by only a small piece of skin. The finger had previously been crippled and drawn up, and the joints stiffened, and as it caught on the seat the whole weight of his body was brought upon the finger, which it was unable to sustain. THe Mernopron Trovupr.—It was an-. nounced in our last issue, that the Mcelodeon Troupe would perform in Murysville on Wednesday and Thursday evenings of this week. . Mr. Ashmore received a dispatch, however, stating that they could not get the Theater . more than one night, in consequence of which the trip has been postponed. The company have been playing to well filled houses during this week—the entertainments being of so vaciéd @ character as to suit all tastes, and keep up a contiuued interest in the performances. They play at Timbuctoo to-morrow evening, . and return to Nevada on Saturday. . Foor Racixc.—Two foot races came off on Broad street this afternoon. The first, between Doe. Kirkpatrick and Jack Doolin, for twenty dollars, won by the former. Sands’ Sarsaparila—For Purifying the blood —Health depends almost entirely upon the state of the blood. If the vitalizing fluid which pervades ev. ery tissue membrane, fibre, filament, gland or other . organ, primary and subsidiary, be charged with the elements of disease, sickness must be the consequence, and until the cause is eradicated, no permanent relief can be expected. Itis here tha ‘the powerful health restoring properties of SANDS’ SARSAPARILLA are manifested ; its searching operation reaches the germ of disease, and the cures it performs are therefore radical and thorough.
