Ben, Fernando’s brvther, was told off to do the agteeatile to the Imperial party, on account of his fascivating, manners aod thorough possession of the Freoch language. The Trustees of the City of Nevada ordain as follows: section 1, A Road Tax of four dollars is hereby levied upon every able-bodied inhabitant of the City of Nevada between the ages of twenty-one and fifty years. Src. 2. It shall be the duty of the City Marshal to collect the Road Tax, and for this purpose he is hereby invested with the same authority as is conferred upon Road Overseers, by the act of the Legislature of 1860, entitled ‘‘an act concerning reads and highways in Nevada county,’’ and the tax shall be collected in the manner presc:ibedin said act. Ss .3. The Clerk of the Board shall prepare and receipts, which shall be numbered and signed by the Clerk. Said receipts shall be countersigned by the Marshal and delivered to persons paying the road tax and the Marshal shall specify in each receipt so de. livered, whether the tax is paid in labor or money. Sec. 4, The Marshal shall keep a correct list of the names of all persons paying their road tax in cash, and the names of those paying in labor, and shall report the same tothe Board on the first of each month, All monies collected on the road tax, . less his commission, the Marshal shall pay over to the City Treasurer, to be used under the direction of . the Board of Trustees for road purposes. There shat) be and is hereby levied upon every male inhabitant of the City, of twenty-one years of age and upwards, a poll tax of one dollar, for the year ending May 1862; and it is hereby made . the duty of the Marshal to collect the same, ~ _Sre.6. N ORDINANCE, Providing for the Planking of portions of Main and Cayote strects, The Trustees of the City of Nevada do ordain as follout: Section 1, Ht shall be the duty of the property holders on both sides of Main street. from the bridge to the junction of Cayote street, and of property holders on Cayote str.et, from the junction of Main to the upper end of the gas works building, and they are hereby required, on or before the 25th day of September, 1861, to plank said streets, in front of their property. Sec, 2. Suid planking shall be done under the direction and supervision of the City Marshal, and each property holder shall be required to plank to the middle of the street. Skc, 3, Should any property holder on Main 2nd Cayote streets, between the termini above specified, neglect or refuse to plank the streets in front of his or her property, as required, it shall become the duty of the City Marshal to let out a contract for having the work done, and the property along the line theres! shall be held responsible for the reasonable expense of the same, Pussed August 27th, 1861. The Trustees of the City of Nevada do ordain as follows — Section], The City Marshal shall receive as a full compensation for his serviees, the sum of one hutdred dollars n month to be paid out of the City Treasury. He shall also receive for his serviees as Collec tor, fifteen per centum on all monies collected on ac count of poll and read taxes, and five per centum ou L. 8 oc8-td CHAS. Policemen shall receive as a compensation for their services the sum of ninety dollars a month, to be paid out of the City Treasury as other demands against the City. Src. 3. For every arrest for violation of City Ordinances, the Marshal and Policemen shall be enti tled to the same fees as are allowed Constables in similar cases, when the same shall be made out«t the persons arrested, Sec. 4.
