Satarday night previous, Hutchinson and a man by the uame of Carr, who professes to be Hutchinson,s Attorney, left the city for his ranch. . Hutchinson’s wife, who feared ber busband’s When she saw Hutchinson and his companion approaching. she left her hiding place and fied toward a Mexican camp not far distant. The . beast of a husband pursued her, but she eluded . his pursuit by again hiding in the chapparal. He ; secreted her, which they denied. drew his Age 22) pistol on one of them, and demanded that be should show him his wife. The Mexican, with Hutchinson’s pistol leveled at his head, commeneed a search in the chapparal, but upon the first opportunity plunged into the thicket. Hutchinson being on horseback could not im. mediately pursue him, but after dismounting . he entered the chapparal and fired twice in the direction of the camp. This aroused the whole Mexican foree. They made for Hutchinson, and one of them succeeded in capturing him with a . On Sunday morning they brought him . lariat. to town and delivered him over to the police. The accused was committed for trial. . Hicuway Roppery aNp Mcerper.—Mr. M. /Rothenheim a merchant of Crescent City, was . murdered and robbed near Elk Camp, in Del Norte county, onthe second instant, Mr, R. was inthe company ofa man named Lewis, and another. The robbers were armed with double ‘barreled shot guns, and Mr. Rofttenbeim was killed at the first fire; Mr. Lewis had his horse killed under him. The murderers then robbed the body of Mr. Rothenheim of $2000 and effected their escape. The robbers were masked, and one of them is described as “being a large, stout built man, dressed in blue pants, gray overshirt, and low crowned black hat with narrow rim.” A reward of $1500 is offered for the apprehension of the murderers and their delivery at Crescent City.
