The writer holds . that Judge Searls’ term expires on the first of . October—having entered upon the duties of his . office in October 1855, and the term being limited by the Constitution to six years. We pre. in fact, we were not aware that there was any . difference of opinion on the subject. PuBLic ScHoo.—After an intermission of a fortnight, the Nevada public school has again . been opened, under the direction of Miss Batch. eldor, an experienced teacher. During the next term, only one teacher will be employed, the public fund not being sufficient to justify . the employing of two. Miss Batcheldor has . taught in the Nevada school for one term, and given general satisfaction. ACCIDENT.—Mr. J. M. Rhodes was very se< verely injured a few days ago, while at work in . a mining claim at Steep Hollow. He was en. gaged in prying a rock, when the crow-bar slip. ped from his hands, and the end striking him on the side of the face, broke and dislocated the jaw-bone, and mangled the flesh in a fear. ful manner. The unfortunate man was admitted into the County Hospital yesterday, and is now doing well. District Court.—In the case of seadiie-. iel vs. Stidger, the evidence having been submitted on Saturday, the matter was taken un. der advisement by the Court. The case of Warren Myers, indicted for . the murder of Valentine Bran, is set for trial . to-morrow. RECRUITING OrFice.—Mr. Charles Atchison, late of Omega, has opened a recruiting office at the saloon adjoining the Theater, on} Main street. Mr. Atchison has seen service in Mexico, and is authorized by the Governor to enrol a company in this county. Parties desirous of enlisting can get any information required by calling on hizo. SocraL Partry.—Mrs. Blum gives a dancing party at Temperance Hall next Thursday evening. Ronpery.—Two Indians attacked and robbed some Chinese, near Drytown, on Wednesday; September 11th. The Johns showed fight, and one of them was shot through the leg.
