GRASS VALLEY AND VICINITY
NEWSIPRAR Eixos
The Daily Evening and Weekly Telegraph is published in Grass Valley, by Messrs. Shoemaker & Ingram.
The paper enjoys a most liberal circulation and patronage, is independent in politics, and the news in its columns is
always authentic. Particular attention is always given regarding the accuracy of the mining news published in the
Telegraph.
“DAILY AND WEEKLY UNION.”
The Dazly Morning Union, the oldest established newspaper in Grass Valley, is one of the most prosperous
country journals in the State. Being the only morning newspaper in Nevada County, and, likewise, the only one in
politics Democratic, it covers an exclusive field. The Union is enterprising, and, as a reward, enjoys a very large
circulation. The Weekly Union is an especial favorite with farmers and people living in the small mining districts
throughout Nevada County. Both these journals are looked to as authority for reliable mining information. W. F.
Prisk is editor and publisher of the Daily and Weekly Union.
THE “TIDINGS.”
The Daily and Weekly Tidings, with publication office at the corner of Neal and Church Streets, are the
leading papers of the city, and are among the best known interior journals. The Foothill Weekly Tidings was established in 1874, by S. G. Lewis, and in 1881 H. S. Spalding commenced the publication of the Dazly Evening Tidings.
Both papers have a large circulation, are independently Republican, and devoted to the advertising and developing
of the resources of Grass Valley and Nevada County. A. B. Champion and James C. Tyrrell, two young and active
newspaper men, are editors and publishers. The Zidings is recognized as reliable authority on matters pertaining to
this locality.
