Asa Medical man it is the duty of every physician
to look at disease as it affects health and life. and his
sole object should be to mitigate, as far as lies in his
power, the bodily suffering. Human nature at best
is but frail. all are liable to misfortune.
Of all the ills thataffect man none are more ter
rible than those of a private nature. Dreedful as
it is in the person who contracts it, frightful as are
its ravages upon his constitution, ending frequently
in destruction and a loathsome grave, it becomes of
still greater importance, when it is transmitted to
innocent offspring. Such being the case how necessary it becomes for every one having the least
reason to fear that they have contractedthe disease

In accordance with this necessity, DR YOUNG feels
called upon to state that, by long study and exten

those diseases which come under. the denomination
of venereal, and having paid more attention to that
one branch than any one physician in the United

PLACERVILLE, MAY 25, 1855.
R. J. C. YOUNG—Dear Sir: Words canriot express the gratitude I feel is due to you for the
benefit I have received from your truly invaluable
course of treatment of my case, while prescribing for
me. I think I cannot justify myself without giving
this small token of my thankfulness and esteem, for
you have been the means of saving my life, and restoring to me that health which I have so long despaired of enjoying. Ihad for a long time. (fom
years) been troubled with that most dreadful scourge
of young people, seminal weakness, or nocturnal emissions, which so weakened me, both bedily and
mentally, that I was obliged to give up mining altoI consulted one of the best physicians, (so
cailcd) in the mountain districts, and. after a careful
. exau ination of my case he gave’ te medicines. I
‘ continued under his treatment for three months with
out receiving any benefit, in fact I grew worse from
week to week, until at last I got discowraged andasked his opinion. I told him not tofearto tell me the
whole truth, for I had rather know the worst at once
than to live in suspense. Ihad lost about 30 pounds
of flesh, and knew that he, vt least, could not cure
me, and that as I was then going. on, death must soon
count meas one of its victims. This physician then
told me that my case was incurable, and ihat JI -had
He said I was
in a decline which was fast tending to pulmonary consumption. J then despaired of obtaining any relief,
and saw that unles$ something was done to mitigate
the complaint, Ishould be numbered with the dead,
or what is worse, be a raving maniac. . Happening to”
see one of your books, the Pocket Escalapius, I made
up my mind at once to call and consult you, with the
determination of trying once more to get relief, if you
would undertake the case. 0, how thankful I am for
that determination! I commenced taking the medicines prescribed:‘by you, and lam vow, through their
healing powers, restored to perfect health. I shall
not fail to recommend you to any of my friends that
require assistance, for a man that can cure a case as
bad as mine was, can cure every disease that flesh is
heir to, if there is life enough in the system to build
upon.
and esteem. 8. Ws REIGHLEA,
Receive my most sincere and heartfelt thanks .
San Francisco, June 21, 1855.
Dear Sin—I have not had one single fit since I
commenced taking your medicines ; I am also gaining
strength every day. The trouble that I had, which
was the cause of the fits is also leaving me very fast,
in fact I think Tam entirely well. but if you think it
best I will take medicine, a short time longer. It is
only about two months since I commenced taking
your prescriptions, and althovgh you told me it would
take from three to four months, yet I feel perfectly
well already. Ifeel sorry that I did not visit you at
first, and not allow myself to be led away by the vain
boasting of those quacks that copy your style of business, and thereby impose upon the public. They
despoiled me of my money, and if I had not stopped
taking their vile stuff, they would have robbed me of
my life also. Thanks to your superior medical skill,
Iam beyond danger, and shall ever consider you the
savior of my life.
Dear Sir—Publish this if you consider it worth your
while, for I wish to proclaim to the world your worth,
that every one who needs t physician may know
where to call, and be sure of avoiding deceit and imposition. Yours, till death, GEO. MARSHALL.

Lovisana.—The returas from: this state are
not all in, and the contest is so close that it
is impossible to give any thing definite with
regard to the result, for Governor, Some
considerable disturbance took place in New
Orleans, and the result of the election was .
not altogether as had been anticipated.—
The ballot boxes of the 7th and &th Wards
were destroyed, and the ballots thrown into
the streets. These were Democratic wards,
and the loss of these majorities allowed the .
K. N. candidate for Sheriff to come sin’ ky a
majority of 7 votes. The matter is now before the Courts for investigation.
Niles Taylor. Dem. is elected to Qongress
over Hunt, K. N., from the 3d District.
Several fights occurred at the polls, and,
in oae instant two men were killed; The
spirit of rowdyism has largely develoded it~
self since the election, and many,“have been
severely dealt with by political ruffiang¥or
dareing to express their opinions.
