For five weeks, on one occasion, have we been unable to stir abroad—eyes swollen, temples throbbing, temper soured, flesh decreased—in fact, entirely tinfitted for society or . : its enjoyments. ‘We’ found, at last, a medicine _which would palfliate it—the same that forms the ‘base of Fran¢here & Butler’s “Alterative,” but ‘nothing, until we tried the “Alterative,” which would break up and entirély remove the neuralgia. Such, however, has been the undoubted effect of this medicine. We know something about its component parts, and can safely—as we do voluntarily and with pleasure—recom. mend it as the best syrup for the diseases which it proposes to cure, that was ever offered’ fo the public. INNocULATED.—A singular instance of innoc‘ulation occurred in this place a few days since. One of our physicians being called upon to perform an operation for the cure of an aphrodisiac disease, had a flesh cut on one of his hands, which unfortunately came in contact with the affected part of the patient’s body, and was innoculated with its malignant virus. The venous flow of blood carried the poison up through the arm to the shoulder, producing great pain, and temporarily depriving the physitian alluded to of the use of that member. ‘As he is skillful in the practice of his profession, he has no doubt ‘ere this succeeded, by an application’ of the proper antidotes, in arresting the progress of the vicious malady. eo sO A Goop Svsstirure —Spangles has’ a throat as dry as a powder-horn. Tue Storm ConTINvES.—Sinceé our last issue, there has been but little intermission in the rain storm. Three or four times the sun shone brightly for an hour or so on each occasion, to be blottéd out by copious and protracted showers of rain. Although vast quantities have fallen, the amount has not been so great, nor effected anything like so much damage as the storm of last week. The break-ups have been just sufficient to allow the streams to disgorge themselves, and keep within a moderate range of their banks.
