Ay Ixctpent.—Among the incidents of
the late terrible disaster at Lawraace Mass,
we have read of none more traly heroic or
affecting than the following :—
“ A little danghter of James Bannon, 10
years of age, was peoned fast in the rabbish
when the fire broke out, and seeing that
there was no escape for her, she took ber due
bill from her pocket and banded it to another
girl near her, and said,“ You will be saved,
I will not, Give this to my poor dear father
and bid him geod bye for me.”
Mrs. Latuam.—The Sacramento correspondent of the Nevada Democrat, speaking
of the departure of Senator Latham says:—
Mrs, Latham remains in this city at present
heing in too feeble health to undertake the
voyage. I could noteuppress @ pang of sorrow, when I saw her to-day, as she passed
in her carriage, looking so pale and attenuated, and yet so young. She willl believe
