and killed politically, Mr. Seward. In this
work, Mr. Dickinson would have the assis—
tance of the friends of Fillmore, of the o!d
Webster and Clay Whigs ; and Mr. Fillmore
friends bold the balance of power in that
State. They have net forgotten that Mr.
Dickinson sustained the Administration of
Fillmore on the Comprom se Measu 1¢8 of
1850, while Seward opposed bis Administration, and sought to break it down ; and
whenever the Democracy of the Union gave
them a chance. by nominating Mr, Dickinson
they will * prove their faith by their works.’

Standard,’ published Concord N. H., avows
its preference for Mr. Dickinson as the Demoeratic candidate for the Presidency, in 1860
and remarks :

has been remarkable. We have seen newspapers from California, Miseouri, Minnesota
