Public Administrator.
Itisrumored that F. H. Nicholson, who
was elected Public administrator of this
county two years ago, is defaulter to the
amount of about two thousands dollars. It
seems there is charged to him, in the Probate
Court, the sum of $2,060, which was collected on the estate of S.N. Palmer, deceased
and which has not wen seo for, This
estate was quite alarge one—the ling
claims belonging to it baving been sold for
$7,000, and the cost will probably amount to
some five hundred dollars, leaving the actual
amount for which the Administrator
chargeable, 500. An

the purpose, as he said, of paying it over
but this he failed tedo. On the Monday
following, Nicholson ‘vent to Grass Valley
in the stage, and that night he hired a buggy
to take him to Yankee Jim's. The buggy
took him as for as Iowa Hill, where he was
left, and nothing further has been heard
from him. Itisamatter of doubt weather
or not Nicholson for the past year has been
the legal Pablic Administrator of the county,
Iie was required over a year ago, the
Board of Supervisors to additional
bonds : with this order he failed to comply.
and the Supervisors declared the office vag
cant and released the bondsmen. The

being doubtful of their own power, neglected

office was not contested. It is supposed

Times, as well as the San Francisco corre
pondents of other opposition papers,
that Mr. Moore of Nevada, s friends
in the Assembly, intend to Speaker
Stratton in hot water. We know this to be
untrue. Mr. Moore and his friends will
stick to the rules of the House and to Parliamentary law, as they shall rue them.
and like other members will appeal from the
decisions of the Speaker, when, in the opinion, he violates either. This they should do
without being subjected to the ct irge of
factions opposition. We know, without be
ing told so, that the Nevada members will
do right with Mr. Stratton and will respect
him and his decisions with as mvch cordiali
