Won’r Fosr.—The Republicans have been flattering themselves, for some time past into the idea that with some such man as Bates they could unite the great bulk ef the Opposition against the Charleston nominee.— Recent events, however, are developing the fact that there is too much patriotism among the Conservative masses to support any nominee of a party whose principles are 80 obuoxious as to be considered treasonable by the almost united voice of more than half the states of the Union. The Vuba Beundury Dispute Settled. The Counties of Yaba and Butte have for years, been dixputing about the dividing line between them. The law fixes the boundary along the main channel of the Honecut.— Yuba county claimed the North Fork for the main Channel, aud Butte as stoutly contended for the Suuth Fork. Surveyor General Higley, whose province it is to settle ersefthe two Counties to determine the line and he would confirm it; but Yuba’s Surveyor reperted for Yuba, and Butte’s for Butte. The Deputy Surveyor General, Edward Twitchel, Esq., thereupon proceeded to the ground, to thoroughly investigate the subject, and. without hesitation, reports the North Fork the boundery, as Yuba Co. bas ever claimed—tbus forever settling thie vexed question.
