A Right to Blame.
Mr. Wheeler, Senator from Yuba County,
whose devotion to Broderickism, led him to
become a inissionary of the holy cause to the

County Assessor of this county, under Mar) tin Brennan, is well known ta this communiity. In the last few numbers of the National
we alluded to some of his official derel'ctions. We have in onr possession a poll tax
reecipt, written by this nan, Henderson, a
deputy assessor. Te collected the poll tax
from a number of gentlemen, at the fame
time and place, for which be gave written
receipts, insted of the printed receipt, countersigned by the Auditor, which the law requires. He violated his eath of office when
he wrote those Tax Kecipts, and he has
defrauded the County out of the money
thus collected.
Can the statements ef anch a man be betieved? The Oath of Office required by

. to offset the oath of Henderson—-where the
parties are known.
