POWERHOUSE
Historic Plant To
Harness New Water’
The Pacific Gas and Electric Company threw
a 50th birthday party for one of its most historic
powerhouses last week--the Drum powerhouse on
Bear River below Dutch Flat.
Officials of Placer and Nevada Counties ate
steak, ice cream and cake in honor of the occa~
sion, and heard PG&E executives describe a new
powerhouse which would be installed beside the
old one to harness “new” water which will be
available after completion of the cooperative
Nevada Irrigation District-PG&E Yuba-Bear project.
