THE RED DOG CEMETERY as it appeared seven years ago}”
choked with brush and trees is shown in the top picture. 5.
Since that time a large portion of the old graveyard has//
been cleared and restored (middle picture) by Lyle White _
of Grass Valley, who has worked at the project on weekends and in his spare time. Besides clearing brush, White}
has repaired markers and fences, erected crosses on unmarked graves, and placed placards on many of the plots
giving the person's history and cause of death. Deaths
range from unusual mining accidents to early day ep!demics, In the bottom picture, White is seen continuing
with his clean-up work, attacking a large portion of the
cemetery that remains uncleared.
