1893: Nov. 2 Mrs. J. J. Jacksons dies, leaves daughter Gracie, aged
years old; besides a mother, two brothers, and three
sisters. She was the daughter of Mrs. John Hurst. ThomasSharp is a full brother. George Hurst &s a half-brother,
and Misses Mamie, Julia and Luiu Hurst are.half sisters.

Lincoln and Grant Dorsey: July 2, 1892: Lincoln Dorsey, twin brother
of Grant Dorsey died. When boys were born their mother requested Dr.
R.M.Hunt to name them. Quickly the Dr. named the two black infants
"Grant" and “Lincoln"*.
Nov. 3, 1893: Henry Dorsey, negro resident for 30 years is dead. He
. : was a native of the District of Columbia, age 69 years.

Bedbug Smith: Lived on South Yuba below Graniteville. Had a garden
and raised fresh corn. His cat ate from his plate on table. First
lived in tumberland near Alleghany, and at one miner's babin when
men were gathered together, a beetle on Smith chest, caused one of them
to say. “That's just one of Smith's bedbugs. He was a school teacher
before coming West in '50's. One of his quote’s were "If I had been
you, I would be doing etc. If you were me, you'd do just exactly what
