Harold Roberts planted, and
is tending, 50 varieties of trees
on his two and one half acres
located five miles out of Grass
Valley on the Colfax Highway.
Christmas trees are being
harvested with purchasers making their own selections from .
Robert’s private forest. He also
will prepare a tree for planting
outside, when its time of glitter
and light has passed. r

_ Roberts explained the Colora‘do Blue Spruce, highly desir} able duing the Yule season, is
‘slow growing and it has taken
him 17 years to produce trees
which are three to six feet tall. He pointed with pride to two
Alaska Silver Cypress which .
are flourishing in their adopted
climate.
Among other trees.on the
farm are both Blue and Golden
Lawson Cypress, Red Fir, Black
Hill Spruce and White Spruce.
Roberts, a long time resident
_ of the county, said his interest in
‘his hobby began in high school
days, and that he has been experimenting ever since.

only interest. He is a camera
} and railroad buff, and has five
active teen age children.
". He said he became fascinated

front of his home. He regrets he
failed to take his own pictures
