ae pg. 2 ge ctee a s Eureka South]and Cherry Hill,{a distance of 1400 feet,in length, and rose 126 feet above the canyon floor at its highest point. The Magenta was 7 feet across the bottom of the flume, with low sides to minimize the danger of having it toppled by storms. When the Magenta was finished, and the precious water flowed freely down the run, there was great celebration. The American and French flags flew in the mountains, young and old partook of the dinner given by the Eureka Lake Company, and that night four hundred happy people danced to a brass band, on a large platform built just for the occasion.
