The Home of the Dead
The Little Cometery bofore spoken of contains comparatively
few graves. One reason for that we believe, is boecauso tho plot
was never carod for, It wag too hich to be irrigated easily
and a secmd reason, because the diteh which brourht irrigating
water had been neglected and allowed to fill up and everyone too
busy or otherwise occupied, to do the necessary repair work,
Many too’ their dead to San Juan and interred them in tho
Cenotery there as it was always well cared for, The Catholics
always took thoir departed friends to the Catholic Cemetery at
N, San Juan for according to their belief no good Catholic must
lie in unconseerated ground,.
