. rare Services Today Ww for 92 Year Old Native of County Funeral services were held at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in Colusa this morning for a woman, who was born at Moores Flat, Nevada county, 92 years ago. Mrs. Elizabeth enue Bagley's birthdate in Nevada county Was June 12, 1868, but she had been a resident of Colusa county 'for 80 years. She moved there at ithe age of 12, She is survived’ by . two sons.and a foster daughter. ‘Brand Funeral Rites Tomorrow Funeral services for Miss Minnie Be and, 80, former Nevada City music teacher who died Sunday aight at the home of her brother_in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Gayord, at Sacramento, will be held at 2 p.,m. tomorrow at the Holmes Funeral Home. Miss Brand, with A. Hartung, operated the C, J, Brand Jewelry Company here after the death of her father and brother. She was a life member of Laurel Parlor,,of the Native Daughters of the Golden West to which she belonged for more than 50 years. For 20 years she was president of the Nevada City Benevolent Society, She took great interest in the Nevada County Historical Society. : She was a past president of the ‘Nevada City Civic Improvement’ Club. During the 16 years she lived in Sacramento. after leaving Nevada City she had been active in the Tuesday Club and in the Camelia Garden Club, by which she was ipresented a life memibership in the California Garden Clubs. Inc. . Services will be conducted by the Rev. Max L. Christensen, rec-' ltor of ‘Trinity Episcopal Church. . Burial will be in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery. Leading mining engineer Clayton A. Bennett dies clayton A, (Dick) Bennell 83, regarded as a leading g m engineer throughout the world, died Sunday morning in his family home in Nevada City. Mr, Bennett, known to everyone as "Dick" was born in Alleghany, Sierra county. He put himself through mining school by working in mining camps. He was graduated from the University of Nevada School of Mines in 1910, Mr, Bennett and his brother Ellsworth, who preceded him in death, were avid sports participants, particularly in rugby football, The mining engineer was captain of a rugby team which was invited to Australia to compete, While he was captain of this team at the University of Nevada, he was proud that it defeated one from the University of California. After graduation Mr, Bennett managed mines in Nevada, Canane, California and Nicaragua, e was a partner with Fred Searles Jr., Alfred Duggleby and W, A, Simpkins in 1923 when they operated the Plumbago Mine near Alleghany, Mr, Bennett was the manager of the original 16 to 1 mine in the Alleghany area and served until the mine closed in the mid1960s, It was the last operating major commercial mine in the area, He was a member of its poard of directors at the time of his death, He was affiliated withthe Am. erican Institute of Mining Engineers, the American Mining Congress, and the Press-Union
League of San Francisco, His social affiliations were the Goldfield Masonic Lodge, Kerak Temple Shrine of Reno, and a charter member of the Downieville chapter of E Clampus Vitus, Survivors include his widow Irene; a daughter, Elizabeth Bennett of Berkeley; ason, Richard Clayton Bennett of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Joan and John Bennett, The Rev, Father William Daly of St, Canice Catholic Church will officiate at graveside services for family members only at 11 a,m. Tuesday in Forest View Cemetery in Nevada City. He was widely known for his devotion to crippled childred and served on numerous community agencies dealing with. { their care. He is survived by his wife, Jean Bost; a son Frederick W.
