Jgurnals: Aug. 55 1853: Whig County Convention Hamlet Davis was named chairman, Gil Meredith named secretary for G. V., Oh motion of Mr. Collins of G.V., a committee of one from each township was appointed to procure a roll of members.) G. Meredith was appointed for G. V. Oc.t 7, 1853: We learn that Ni. Chevalier from Paris has kindly volunteered to give an exhibition in Legerdermain on Thurs. Evening next, the 14th., inst. for the benefit of the Nevada Hook and Ladder Co. M. Chavalier is familiar with all the intrécacies of his art and has exhibited with great eclat in S. F., Stockgton, and other ports of the State. Nothing of the kind has ever been exhibited in Nevada. The object of the benefit is to increase the facilities of the fire companys and it should be encouraged by our citizens.
