Telegraph is now in operation between San Francisco, San Jose, Stockton,
Sacramento, and Marysville. Has been open for two weeks now.

Paper changed this date to an evening paper.
Mr. Williams is extending his water pipe along upper Main St. to the
top of the hill. Our city has at this time 3000 yards of pipe conveying
water from mountoin springs to most of the houses in Nevada City. ("The
city should have a reservoir above end larger pipes").

Young America receives a new and larger press. The recently invented
press is capable of 30,000 imprints per hour. The previous limit was 15,000.
A. A. Sargent is named editor of the Journal.
"New England Society " (Sons of New England) Lodge will meet.
The California Chronicle (S. F.) commences publication.
