Houses and trees blown down. Tony Brown in fracas. Shot in leg. Left town. H. V. Bicknell named clerk of Baptist Church. Considerable rain and snow the past week. New Baptist Church built by Stillman Thomas. J. Churchman visited Nevada last Monday still suffering from wound he received at Sacramento. R. A. Davidge fined $250 for his assault on J. Churchman. Public notice--License to set up and keep a toll bridge across the Middle Yuba between Bloody Run and Uncle Tom's Cabin. Michael and Patrick Burns. Body of Wm. H. Spencer, late of Nevada, found floating in the Sacramento River after an explosion on the steamer Pearl. Langton Express and Everts Express both sold to Adams Express. (Mr. S. W. Langton). A meeting in Cherokee for the purpose of getting a post office there. The post office to be designated "Patterson". California Stage Co. has daily run to Marysville via Camptonville, Empire Ranch, French Corral, San Juan, and Hess Crossing. es : = : Great conflagration. Every house on south side of Broad St. between N. and S. Methodist Chu‘ches destroyed. Started in kitchen of Virginia House. Page, Bacon & Co. crashed--with Adams Express. Hamlet Davis suspended. Married on the 25th--John Tresner to Miss Eliza Layton of Nevada. Long editorial on The Crash. Jesse S. Wall purchased Hamlet Davis Grocery on Broad St. Stiles has opened a branch store in Forest City. Ad. for a new wagon road from Nevada to Downieville by way of Robinson's Crossing. Adams & Co. employees form Joint Stock Co. entirely unconnected with banking. Express business formerly conducted by Adams & Co. to continue under the name Pacific Express Co., H. R. Ferre, agent. Grass Valley Telegraph has commenced publishing a history of Nevada. First chapter appeared yesterday morning. A school was to have been started at Orleans Flat yesterday. Died in Brooklyn, NW. Y., Feb. 18, of consumption, Susannah B. Winchester, wife of Gen. J. Winchester, late of Grass Velley. A new paper, "Miner's Spyglass" will be published in a dey or two. Nevada City addresses.
