"Pike Flat" extends from the bridge across Wolf Creek, at Winchester's Mill
up to McClintock's house, a distance of a mile and a half, varying from a 4 to a
% mi. wide. It has been worked (for gold) with greater success than any other Flat
in this vicinity or elsewhere in the County. Pike Flat has been known to be immen
sely rich, ever since the Fall of the year.1850, when the Pike #¥. Flat Co. was
