G. V. TELEGRAPH July, 1855 3rd-----EW BRICK-Sylvester's New Fireproof is now in progress of erection on Main St, & is rapidly approaching completion. The side end reer walls are of fieldstone, the front is to be of brick. This building, when completed, will form a very substantial fire wall against the progress of fire on thet side of the street. New Sons of Temperance Hall just completed. To be dediceted July 14th. (a description of the bldg was published June 12.) 10th-----NEW BRIDGE--at Illinois Bar Ferry-just completed. Cost $20,000. Information via Greén & Henry's Express. “Ly eng feline Atvticd GF Dene Jy NEW FIREPROOF-Mr. Edward McLaughlin, and Messrs. C.R.Edwards & Co., have eech commenced the erection of Fireproof Brick Buildings on Mill Street near the corner of Main. The stores are to be 22x52 ft. each, with 24 inch thick front and rear walls, and 16 inch thick side walls-2 stories high. The brick work is under contract, and in the hands of Messrs. Shillinder & Lebitt of Nevada. Both buildings, which are to be adjoining, are to be completed by 1st September next. ANOTHER-~ Mr. John Parker has also commenced the erection of a brick building on Mill Street, adjoining Mr. McLaughlin on the other side from Edwards. This building will be 20x50 feet, with 24 inch front walls, and 16 inch side walls. This building will also be by M. Shellinder & Lebitt.
