NOTES — 1851 é Nevada Journals Apr. 19 List of names for letters remaining in P.O. Among them Silas Chatfield, James Atwood, James Cross, Dr. John Buckbee Apr. 19 The Circus wiiich recently paid a visit to this place were at Long's Bar on Feather River on Sunday last. They performed three wights at Marysville and appeared at that place again om Monday evening on their way to Sacramento via Fremont, where they were to stap one evening. (Note: Pell's Circus) ’ Apr. 19 We last night attended the concert of the Kthiopian Seranaders at the Empire and were highly pleased with their performances. We have seldom witnessed such truthfulrrepresentations of negro character as givem by this company. Winnemore is an unrivaled performer on the banjo and the way "Swasha hands Across" was cheered, evinces the tact and talent of the whole band. The Statue Dance was a-fine thing, especially Bower's celebrated Juba Dance which was a successful presentation of noted dancers, different occunations, etc. The burlesoue of "lucy Long," by Price, was loudly cheered and successfully repeated by the reciest of the ardience. The Seranéers wil! stop for some time at Nevada ard we hope that their efforts to please will be annreciated by our citizens. Apr. 19The veins of quartz are universally found in a state of decomposition especial . y in the Gold Tuinel. ) Coyote Diggings: The fact that none of the gold taken from the Coyote Diggings has the apnearance of beimg subjected to any process of att rition etc. It appears to lay im patches as if formed where it lies, by some chemical agency, etc. These digcings are decidedly the most remarkable which have been yet discovered in California— indeed nothing in the whole history of mining, ancient or modern can co pare to them. Apr. 19 Sluice Washing: A number of persons are now at work in the ravine north of the city. The dirt has al! been twice worked over, generally with common rocker. They are now working it for the third time with the long tom and s\usce boxes. It is paying $12 per day to the hand. Apr. 19Grass Valley —DeSriptiom of hills and Mime Se. Apr 19 -— Decision to make Nevada County. Apr. 19 — Election News: Precincts were: Coyottville, North Nevada, Gold Run, Broad St. Main Street. Hoyt as Mayér, Laird as Alderman. Justice Olney officisted. Apr. 19Jenny Lind: There is some probability Miss Jenny: Lind may pay a visit to the Eureka State. It is said the $50,000 has been subscribed in S.F. e as a compe sation for her services for 10 nights. Who wouldn't be a nightingale? 4.
