(@ THESPIANS — 16957-1858 The Metropolitan Theater, just eabovectheUnion Hotel on Main Street, was bpenéd Sept. 16, 1858, and burned in fire of 1363. Opening performance with J.H.Warwick and Miss H. Carpenter August 13, 1858: in William'sTemperance Hall: Potter's Dramatic Co. with J.H.Warwick, Miss H. Carpenter, in drama of Michael Earle and Black-Eyed Susan. Also the favorite Juvenile “ctress, La Petite Lotta. Location of Metropolitan Theater: George Jacobs in his memotés in the Morning—Unien,—New—lH 51965, stated the Metropolitan was opposite what is now "The Antlers Hotel" on Main Street. Morning Miner, Jan.26, ’ 1904 An addiin the Morning Union, Nov. 11, 1905 states the Union Hotel was formerly the Antlers, thereby placing the Metropolitan opposite the old Union Hotel, where the Metropolitan Stables once stood. 3h.
