MINERS Appeal Mar. 29, 1861 Long article discusses the practice at Grass Valley Quartz mines called "knocking down" but which today is usually called “high grading". Details are quoted from the Grass Valley National. This a pert of a lone item of mining news of all California including sections on Nevada and Sierra counties.
