1 April 1886: Born GV March 30, A. G. Compton, son
Died GV March 30, Mrs. Margaret Kenney.
Comfort Anderson, a colored girl, and Mrs nellie Richards will
be tried for stealing clothing from Bessie Earle, a woman of the
town. Petty larceny.
The nicest kind of rainstorm, vegetation yearning for since
north wind dried things up.
J. B. Townsend died North San Juan leaves from $7,000 to
$10,000 worth of property.
A grand skating crnival and mask ball at Diamond Skating Rink,
GV April 2. Ten elegant and costly prizes. Mr. Dion of SF in GV
with beautiful and striking costumes.
Folly's Festival, origin and license.
Sowners of Union Turnpike road thru R/R, Penn Valley will sell
for $5,000 and the Union Turnpike Co will subscribe $1,000
towards payment of it. Wi]l make cost to county or public
$4,000. Would take at leaft five times that to build such a
road. Unjust to not vivce people of that part free road to
travel to county seat.
A colored local -preacher at GV named Chamberlain waved pair of
red drawers at NG rr train and when cars stopped he handed to one
on board a letter and asked that it be delivered to man who was
dying. Sam-night he attended the performance of the Goerogia
minstrels and jumped up from seat and loudly charged that men on
stage were murderers of Abraham Lincoln. Constable Townsend
ejected noisy fellow. Crazy Preacher. . e . és. 4 «+:
Const Townsend brought two more prisoners to county jail from
GV. James Collins. Asked for drink at a saloon and refused
proceeded to break some window glasses. Malicious mischief,
convicted, 30 days.
George McGovern, 15, broke a stove in Potter's schoolroom,
pleaded guity and 15 days.
Chas W. Palm well sell at Nevada Theatre at public auction
entire household furniture of Judge John Caldwell. among best in
county.
