Page 30 of 52 cdic Morning Union, 6 August 1915 Howard Brewer, proprietor of Olympia Park, has arranged with Jimm'e Elder, who as a pianist has talent of a h'igh order, to give a concert at the park next Sunday afternoon. In addition to a musical program there will be water sports and other attractions. Morning Union, 6 August 1915 The Country Club was responsible for a jolly dancing party given last evening at Olympia .Park. The large open-air platform on the island never contained a jollier crowd and the blithesome sounas that were wafted across the waters was a true indication of the success of the party. San Francisco musicians furnished music for the dancing and an enjoyable feature of the entertainment was the singing toy Mr. Everett who accompanied Messrs. Elder and Kimball, the musicians, to this city. The party vas largely attended. Morning Union, 12 August 1915 HUNDREDS PICNIC A! OLYMPIA PARK The annual picnic of Manzanita Parlor, Native Daughters, was held at Olympia Park yesterday afternoon, more than fifty children of the different members attending. The picnickers went out on the 12:30 car and during tWe afternoon the guests were regaled with a fine picnic luncheon under the pines. The park was alive with picnickers yesterday and a Jarge crowd attended the open-air dance given at the park last night. High diving through a hoop of fire by Edi Bo reham was a pretty feature of last night’s entertainment. Morning Union, 15 August 1915 — NEVADA county swimmers will be represented in the races to be held at the exposition grounds, San Francisco on Sacramento Day, August 21st. Howard Brewer, proprietor of Olympia Park, “announced last night that contests would be held in the lako at Olympia this afternoon and at least two of I he contestants will be chosen to go to San Francisco to participate In the races as the guests of the Olympia Park management. Mr. _ Brewer announces that there is export swimming talent in Nevada county and several of the local boys have an excellent chance of capturing some of the medals that have been offered. Those showing the most skill in today’s contest will be selected. In addition to the races there will be high diving at the park today; also water polo and other aquatic events. The program will be interpolated by a pop concert. MU 18 Aug.: The preliminaries in the contest for the trip to San Francisco to take part in the amateur swimming contests at the exposition were held Sunday.
