Manager Brewer reports all in readiness for the Olympia Park celebration today. The dance last
night was a notable success, large crowds attending and today’s festivities promise to be
equally enjoyable. The roads and walks have been sprinkled for the occasion in order to make
travel pleasant. Special mention is made of the program of aquatic sports which has been
arrange
At Olympia Park. An afternoon and evening at Olympia Park was a fitting climax to a day of
many pleasures. This was the biggest day in the hiSbry of the park. Several thousand pleasure
seekers took advantage of he numerous attractions afforded. During the afternoon a series of
races and water sports were, given. The younger swimmers had a chance to do as the little
Kanaka boys by diving for coins in the large cement swimming tank. There were men’s and
boys’ swimming, races, running races, and a very interesting water polo game. Apparently there
is talent here that could be developed into excellent water athletics with the idea of arranging tor
matches with Y. M. C. A. and club teams frorrbetow. True to advertisement there was a balloon
ascension. In the early evening fireworks on the lake from the bridge and the dozen boats on
the lake gave a regatta-like effect and was observed by all with much interest. Afterwards the
dance was enjoyed until a late hour.
