recovered, and then shot himself in head and recovered
again. Shot himself in the head a second time and died a
few days later. Buried in Boulder Street cemetery.
May 1890—Widow ran a boarding house on Broad Street.
(In 1900 his widow wrote to Evangeline Chapter to say she
was still alive and had married a Mr. Dickson. In 1923 she became a 50-year life member of the chapter.)
Dr. C. D. BOBO, M.D. (1818_)
1818—Born in South Carolina.
1841—Graduated from University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and began practicing medicine in South Carolina.
1847—Married Sarah A. Simpson (b. in North Carolina).
1866—Moved to Louisiana and practiced medicine.
1868—Came to Calif. and lived in San Joaquin County.
1870—Moved to Marysville, Yuba County.
1875— Came to Nevada City, Nevada County.
1880—Lived at Nevada City with wife, son and 2 daughters
(one child had died).
CHRISTIAN BOCKMAN (1820-_)
1820—Born in Norway.
—Worked as a bookkeeper and clerk.
1849—Migrated to Calif. via New York and Cape Horn.
1850— Mined on Deer Creek.
Sept 1855—Moved to Texas Flat, Nevada County, and kept
a store.
1852—Road supervisor for Rough and Ready township.
1857—Moved to Mission House, which he renamed Pleasant
Valley, Nevada County, and kept a store and hotel there.
1859—Moved to Nevada City and was a merchant at Broad
and Pine streets.
Nov 1863—Burned out by Nevada City fire.
1864—Married Margaret Curtin (b. in Ireland).
—Daughter born.
—Elected Nevada City school trustee.
1880—Lived at Nevada City with wife and daughter. Home
and improvements worth about $2,000.
WILLIAM C. D. BODY (1841)
1841—Born in England.
—Attended schools in his native town.
—Went to sea.
—Seved 7 years as ship carpenter and builder.
1868 — Received first class discharge from Her Majesty’s yard
for iron work.
1869—Came to San Francisco, Calif. and engaged in ship
building.
Fall 1870 —Came to Grass Valley and began mill work.
—Supervised construction of Congregational Church
1892—Elected to Grass Valley Board of Trustees.
1895—Had Supervised erection of mills at North Star, Empire, W.Y.O.D., North Banner and Gold Point mines. Erected Morning Star mill at lowa Hill, the new hoisting works
at the Maryland
1895—Reelected to Board of Trustees. Lived at corner of Mill
and Chapel streets.

May 11, 1852—Helped draft resolutions for miners of Oregon
Hill and Ravine, and Buckeye Hill Ravine at Nevada City,
Nevada County.
Aug 28, 1852—Chosen delegate from Rock Creek to Whig
county convention.

Mr. M. BOHANNAN (1832__)
1832—Born in Ireland.
1849— Migrated to New York and worked as blacksmith and
machinist.
1854— Came to Nevada County, Calif., and was a miner and
blacksmith.
1860—Became a merchant.
1871 —Married Miss C. Waldron (b. in Mayo County, Ireland).
1880—Lived at Eureka South (Graniteville) with wife and
two living daughters. Was a merchant and owned the California Milling mine and a 10-stamp mill.
PATRICK BOHANNAN (c1822-1868) (DEM)
ca 1822—Born.
—Came to Calif.
— Married Ellen (b. ca 1830).
Feb 1855—Wife Ellen declared intent to carry on business of
keeping a hotel and merchandise store in Eureka township
of Nevada County.
June 11, 1859— Chosen delegate to Democratic state conv.
Aug 8, 1860—Supported Stephen Douglas for President.
June 24, 1861—Chosen delegate to Democratic state conv.
Aug 20, 1861—Had opened a hotel at Eureka South.
Nov 3, 1862— Wife died at Eureka South.
—Married .
May 26, 1868 —Killed by James Smallen at Eureka South. Left
a wife and 8 children.
JOSEPH O. BOICE (
—Came to Calif.
Jan 1, 1854—Nevada City, Nevada County, post office had 3
letters for him.
Oct 3, 1855—Killed by Joseph Kaufman in dispute over mining claim at Alpha, Nevada County.

VICTOR BOLEY (BOWLEY)( -_ )
—Came to Calif.
Jan 18, 1856—He and John Brouillette opened a billiard
saloon in Kelsey’s brick building at 25 Commercial Street,
Nevada City, Nevada County.
Feb 19, 1859—He and Brouillette and James Archie (or
Archer) attempted a highway robbery between North San
Juan and Forest City.
Feb 23, 1859— Arrested at Hunt’s Hill with four bullet holes
in his left arm.
May 9, 1859—James Archer tried to escape from the Marysville, Yuba County, jail.
May 1859—He and Archer were convicted of robbery and
sentenced to 10 years in prison. Court recommended pardon after 4 years of good behavior.
