Sept 29, 1854—Sigourney & Peck took over the former Burton and Coleman store. Dec 1855—Office in Johns’ building, 46 Main St., Nevada City. Aug 1856—Independent candidate for county clerk. Sept 12, 1856—Withdrew as candidate for clerk. Sept 26, 1856—A. A. Sargent withdrew as American party candidate for state senate and Burton agreed to run in his place.
