Sept 3, 1862—Reelected constable for Bloomfield twp. JOHN F. BUSSENIUS (__-1869) (UNION) —Born in Hanover, Germany. Sept 22, 1849— Arrived in Calif. with brother Robert. Sept 1850—He and brother bought a trading post at French Corral. —Came to Nevada City. Aug 16, 1864—On music committee for Lincoln & Johnson Club at Grass Valley, Nevada County. Oct 6, 1864 —Played the piano in Nevada City at a benefit ball for Prof Schmidtschneider, the violinist. March 16, 1865—Offered piano and guitar lessons: “Apply next door to Methodist Church, Broad St., Nevada City.” May 9, 1865—Had bought J. M. Levey’s drugstore at corner of Commercial and Pine sts. Was an experienced apothecary and druggist. May 25, 1866 —Had organized a German singing club at Nevada City. Aug 18, 1866—Became a citizen at Nevada City. Feb 7, 1867—He and George H. Edmonds gave a grand concert at Nevada Theatre. June 1867—Apothecary and chemist, corner Commercial and Pine sts. in Masonic building. March 21, 1868— Chosen delegate to Union county conv. March 1869—Visited Nevada City to persuade mine owners to use Giant Powder; was now supt. of Giant Powder Works in San Francisco. Nov 27, 1869—Killed in explosion at Giant Powder Works, San Francisco. ROBERT H.L. BUSSENIUS( -_ ) —Born in Hanover, Germany. Sept 22, 1849— Arrived in Calif. with brother John. Sept 1850—He and brother bought a trading post at French Corral. 1861—Lived at Nevada City, Nevada County. Dec 26, 1861—Married Miss Johanna Gephardt Stone at Blue Tent, Nevada County. Oct 2, 1862—Son born at Nevada City. Nov 9, 1864—Daughter Elise born at Nevada City. Nov 25, 1865—Daughter Elise, died at Nevada City. Aug 14, 1866—Became at citizen at Nevada City. June 1868—Bought drugstore at Pine and Commercial sts. from brother John. Jan 13, 1869—Daughter born in San Francisco. April 7, 1869—Had Occidental Insurance Co. agency at his drugstore in Nevada City. FRED BUTLER( _ ) —Came to Calif. Jan 16, 1858 —Bought Nevada Bakery from August Jungherr and Jacob Mann at Nevada City, Nevada County. VALENTINE BUTSCH (_—Came to Calif. Aug 1851—Blacksmith in Nevada County when Judge Thomas Caswell deputized Butsch to guard a prisoner at Nevada City. Dec 25, 1851—He and Charles Beauclerk catered wedding of the latter at Quartzville, near Nevada City. Jan 24, 1852—He and Beauclerk had built a new store and hotel at Woods Ravine. Feb 7, 1852—He and Beauclerk offered to sell or rent the Quartzville Hotel and William James store, they were operating at Woods’ Ravine, so they could return to States. Oct 10, 1852—IIIness prevented his scheduled speech on behalf of Whig candidates. Event postponed until Oct 16. 1854— Moved to Birchville, 312 miles S.W. of San Juan. Nov 20, 1855—On Main St., Nevada City, Bruce Garvey slashed Butsch in the face with a knife after accusing Butsch of having flogged Garvey’s father while crossing the plains together in 1849 or 1850. Nov 30, 1855—Butsch denied Garvey’s charge and said Garvey hadn't make the accusation to his face. May 1862—Member of Democratic county committee from Eureka twp. ) (WHIG, DEM) GEORGE BUTTERFIELD (_—Came to Calif.
