Thursday evening, by a large number of friends giving him a surprise party at his residence, in compliment to him as being the occasion of his birthday anniversary, he§ aving reachedfhis thirty-seventh year. Wilhelm’s 37" birthday anniversary, with a list of people who attended this surprise party. Grass Valley must have been a close community that cared for its neighbors and family. The German Social Club was active among German-born and German-descended people in Grass Valley. The following advertisement is for their “Fifth Grand Annual Picnic.” David Binkleman, Theo.
