The payment in 1910 amounted to 23%. The reduction for the present year is credited to greater depth at which the ore is mined, less production, and heavier operating costs. It is understood the company is planning for the opening of ore in the Massachusetts Hill mine, one of its main holdings. Considerable work has been performed during the year at the Cincinnati Hill group, but results were not altogether satisfactory, according to reports. The company acquired control of the Champion Mine, Nevada City district, and installed machinery, including an electric pump, with a capacity of 750 gallons. This work is being done by the North Star Company.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 217, 2-4-1911 “The North Star Mines Co. has commenced the building of a road-bed for an electric car line from the Central shaft to the Massachusetts Hill mine. A suspension aerial railway is employed to carry out the work. Four cables are strung across a ravine, ties are fastened to the cables, and rails spiked to the ties. The ravine is filled by means of cars of broken waste quartz, which discharge from the suspended railway. It is reported that developments at the Massachusetts Hill will commence early next year. The company is pushing development vigorously at the Cincinnati Flat group with pleasing results. A pipe-line is being laid to the property from the North Star compressor house, and a water main is also under construction.
