“The North Star Mines Co. declared a Christmas dividend of 8%, making a total of 17%
on the capital stock disbursed during the year. The payment in 1910 amounted to 23%.
The reduction for the present year is credited to greater depth at which the ore is mined,
less production, and heavier operating costs. It is understood the company is planning
for the opening of ore in the Massachusetts Hill mine, one of its main holdings.
Considerable work has been performed during the year at the Cincinnati Hill group, but
results were not altogether satisfactory, according to reports. The company acquired
control of the Champion Mine, Nevada City district, and installed machinery, including an
electric pump, with a capacity of 750 gallons. The Champion is expected to prove one of
the best properties of the company.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 119, 1-13-1912
“The North Star Mines Co. is having work done at the Cincinnati Flat group. The recently
installed hoist is greatly facilitating developments.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 309, 225-1911

production in that period of $1,025,088, on which the net profit was $468,681. For
purchase of property and development of the Cincinnati Hill mine the company spent
$58,065, leaving a balance of $410,616. Income from invested funds and other sources
brought the total net receipts to $452,890. The company paid in dividends during the

“Sinking at the Cincinnati Hill mine is progressing day and night. It is rumored that good
ore has been found. This work is being done by the North Star Company.” Mining &

“The North Star Mines Co. has commenced the building of a road-bed for an electric car
line from the Central shaft to the Massachusetts Hill mine. A suspension aerial railway is
employed to carry out the work. Four cables are strung across a ravine, ties are fastened
to the cables, and rails spiked to the ties. The ravine is filled by means of cars of broken
waste quartz, which discharge from the suspended railway. It is reported that
developments at the Massachusetts Hill will commence early next year. The company is
pushing development vigorously at the Cincinnati Flat group with pleasing results. A
pipe-line is being laid to the property from the North Star compressor house, and a water
main is also under construction. At the Central shaft a new hoist is being installed.”

“The North Star Mines Co. has purchased the Pratt and Dubuque claims, which adjoin
the North Star holdings, and comprise four acres. The company is vigorously developing
its claims on Cincinnati Flat and opening considerable territory. At the main Central
workings the usual work is progressing from the lower levels. The company recently
declared its third dividend for the year, amounting to $100,000.” Mining & Scientific
Press, pg. 453, 10-1-1910
