“Ten additional stamps are to be started in the Idaho-Maryland mill shortly.” Mining &
Scientific Press, pg. 309, 9-4-1909
“The Idaho-Maryland is stoping on the 500 and 600 ft. levels. Some excellent ore is
being opened at both places.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 241, 8-21-1909
“The 8-ft. vein on the 500 ft. level of the Idaho-Maryland continues to assay well. Twenty
stamps are dropping in the mill.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 170, 8-7-1909
“The 8 ft. vein on the 500 ft. level of the Idaho-Maryland is showing well as developments
progress. Bray Wilkins is manager.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 42, 7-10-1909
“The trouble at the Idaho-Maryland has been adjusted and the miners returned to work.
The drift in the east level has been run 300 ft. beyond all old workings, and the vein is
from 12 to 15 ft. wide, 4 ft. of which is said to be high-grade milling ore. A raise from this
level is up 90 ft., all in ore. This vein is in a territory never worked before by either the
Idaho or the Maryland companies.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 871, 6-26-1909
“Forty stamps are dropping at the Idaho-Maryland mill. The 8-ft. vein of high-grade
milling ore developed in the 500 ft. level has been intersected at the 600 and 700 ft.
points, and shows equally good stuff. Several men have been added to the working
force.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 643, 5-8-1909
“A complete survey of the 500 and 700 ft. levels of the Idaho-Marylad mine has been
made, and an ore-shoot has been discovered which Bray Wilkins, the manager, says is a
new orebody, with well defined walls, lying parallel to the old vein.” Mining & Scientific
Press, pg. 301, 2-27-1909
“Every mine in the Grass Valley district has been much bothered by the long-continued
rain storm’ and especially those dependent on the electric current for pumping. For the
voltage of the supply fell off, preventing the speeding up of the machinery to its full
capacity. The water gained 100 ft. in the Idaho-Maryland mine, but the pumps are
holding their own, and the manager anticipates no trouble, as all ore stoping is being
done far above this level.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 170, 1-30-1909
“The mill at the Idaho-Maryland is running on good ore from the 500 ft. level. Driving for
the vein has commenced on the 10000 ft. level. The drift on the 700 ft. level will be
pushed ahead steadily. About seventy men are now employed.” Mining & Scientific
Press, pg. 68, 1-9-1909
“After three years’ continual endeavor the Idaho-Maryland Co. has unwatered the Idaho
shaft to the 1000 ft. level. The old pumps on that level have been placed in fair condition
and will start up for the first time in eight years within a few days. From this point the
west drift will be extended to intersect the main vein. The mill has been placed in firstclass condition and 20 stamps will soon be dropping. The bins are full of ore from the 8
ft. vein on the 500 ft. level, and Bray Wilkins, who is manager, is completing
arrangements for developments on an enlarged scale.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg.
757, 12-4-1908
“The working force at the Idaho-Maryland is being steadily increased. The work of retimbering the shaft is proceeding steadily.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 339, 9-12-1908
“The shaft at the Idaho-Maryland has been unwatered to the 900 ft. level and the work of
re-timbering it is going forward rapidly. The 700 ft. level has been cleaned up for 400 ft.
On the west drift on the 500 ft. level a good shoot of rich ore is being developed. The
surface plant is being put in first-class shape.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 309, 9-51908
“Within a week the work of unwatering and re-timbering the shaft at the Idaho-Maryland
will be under way. Three shifts will be employed. A large force will also be put at work
re-opening the 700 ft. level and running a drift to strike the vein. The new vein on the 5—
ft.level has been proved for 250 ft. and has widened to 10 ft. A west drift from the 500 ft.
level is opening virgin country.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 203, 8-15-1908
“A winze is being sunk from the 500 ft. level at the Idaho-Maryland, and the 700 ft. level
put in condition for active operations. A drift will be run from the 700 ft. level to intersect
the vein.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 861, 6-27-1908
