Jenny Lind Gravel Claim:

Jenny Lind Gravel Mine:
“100 Years Ago... Thomas and Grenfell say fabulously rich gold has been struck in the
Jenny Lind.” The Union, pg. C-3, 5-17-2008
Efforts are being made to open promising quartz veins in the North Bloomfield district,
formerly noted for its hydraulic mines. Outcroppings of veins are numerous and it is
generally believed that the wash from these orebodies yielded the phenomenal gold
gravel of the North Bloofmield placers. On the Jenny Lind, MckKilliran, King Edward,
Bunker Hill, Oriental, White Diamond and other claims indicatios are particularly
promising. The development thus far consists merely of slight surface trenching, no
attempt at shaft or adit work having been made. From the outcrops the quartz is said to
be largely free milling, with values ranging from $5 to $50 per ton.” Mining & Scientific
Press, pg. 303, 9-2-1911
“Driving for the channel at the Jenny Lind is progressing steadily, and it is expected to
reach the objective point before winter sets in.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 589, 10-291910
“The raise from the adit at the Jenny Lind appears to be near the channel.” Mining &
Scientific Press, pg. 453, 10-1-1910
“The raise from the adit at the Jenny Lind is nearing the channel, and the management is
hopeful of commencing early production. Joseph Bartell is superintendent.” Mining &
Scientific Press, pg. 253, 8-20-1910
“The Jenny Lind mill will commence a trial run on 200 tons of gravel this week. It is
reported that the main channel has been intersected.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 272,
3-5-1910
“The working force at the Jenny Lind has been reduced. The gravel has not come up to
expectations.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 35, 7-11-1908
“At the Jenny Lind a small force is driving the adit. Some fair-grade gravel has been
found, but the property has not come up to expectations.” Mining & Scientific Press, pg.
839, 6-19-1909
“The fifth raise at the Jenny Lind has cut the channel and exposed large quantities of rich
gravel. The aerial tramway has been completed and the mill will start soon. The mine
will be in full blast within three weeks.” Mining and Scientific Press, pg. 685, 5-23-1908
“Rich gravel continues to come from the Jenny Lind. Cross-cutting is under way to
determine the width of the channel. The mill will be started soon.” Mining and Scientific
Press, pg. 649, 5-16-1908
“The 26 ft. raise from the end of the adit at the Jenny Lind has encountered the channel
and disclosed large quantities of rich gravel. Drifts and cross-cuts will be driven to
determine the extent and strike of the channel. The mill will be started in a few days.”
Mining & Scientific Press, pg. 613, 5-9-1908
