To perfeet the desired improvements In our new series of the Mtnine AnD Scientific Press, it becomes necessary to commence a new volnme with the year, and we are therefore obilged to close up Vol. VII with the present issue, By enlarging the paper, we have 832 pages per annum, Instead of 416, as formerly, and tor convenicnce in blnding we reduce the term of our volnme to six months, the enstomary period for such publications. No. 1 of the Ist voluine ot the Press was issucd by G. H. Winslow & Co., May, 24th 1860. Althongh the individual length of the intervening volumes has becn somewhat irregular, the average period for cach figures uot far from six months, and rating the seven volumes thus proves very nearly the actual age of the paper. Onrreccipts, recently giveu for subseriptlous, have been dated by volumesand Nos. To prevent misapprehension on the part of subscribers, we will state that the ehange of volume alluded to, makes no difference in the time of tho expiration of their snbseriptions. iu future there will be bnt 26 Nos. In each volume. There belng but nine nwnbers issucd in Vol. VII, (instead of 52, as contemplated,) those holding reccipts to any No. beyond No. 9, of Vel. VII, will receive credit on Vols, VIII, 1X, or X, te such date as the No. to which their receipt shows payment would have been Issued if no change had been made. For Instanec, asitbseriber holding a reeelpt glyen Deeember Ist, 1863, running from No. 5of Vol. VII to No. 5 of Vol. VIII, will be duly credited, by the new order of volumes, to No. 12 0f Vol IX, which will be published dnring the last week in November, 186%, at which tjme he will have received 4 Noa. printed in Vol. VII, (frown No. 5 te 9,) tho 26 Nos. contained lu Vol. VIII, and 22 Nos. of Vol. LX—making In all 52 copies.
