“QHIPPINGS.”
Tue State of Connecticut has appropriated towards the support of the war, $8,600,500. Add to
this her proportion of the public debt and the sum
will reach $80,000,000, or one-third of all the taxable
property of the State. Nor do these appropriations
include the vast appropriations and expenditures by
towns and cities of that State.

Idaho. It is expected that the coaches will commence ronning by tlre first of May. The importance
of this enterprise to the new Territory of Idaho can
scarcely be estimated in dollars. It will open up ap
immense wilderness to the energy of the superior
white race, and rapidly fill it with a populous comminnity.

Important to Callforniaus.—Many Inventors havo intely
had thelr elaims for Patents serlously (and In some cases fatally)
delayed by the unqualification of agents who have not complicd with
the Government license and revenue laws, as well as other new
and imperative regulations. These discrepancies, although arising
from the inexpericnec of honest agents, are none the less dangerous
to apnlleants for patents, whose safest courso Is to trust thelr busi
neas with none but active and experlenced solleltors. Tux Mining
anp Serentiric Press Patent Acency has strietly compiled with the
requisitions of the Department, and properly fled all necessary pa,
pers as Claim Agents.

WHEELER’S
Amalgamating and Separating Pans
T IS ACKNOWLEDGED BY ALL WHO HAVE EXAMINED TNE
eee and witnessed the operation of these Pans, that they
are decidediy superlor for triturating and amalganiating pnrposes
to any other fu use.
Tho most important principte connected with the operatlon of
these Pans is the separation of the triturating precess from that of
extracting the amalgam from the sand. © chiet canse of loss of
the precious inetai arlses trom tho pas: ff ot the same In com:
bination with the quieksil during the pigees of trituration, and
In cleaning up. _ By the Introduction of the Pepa Pan to follow the tritay yg, tis loss is entirely ayvolded. In working these
machines ther no appreciable luss of quicksilver, and hetce none
of the preeions metals.
Where these Pans have been introduecd and operated by the side
of others on sands from the santo vat, the Wheeler Pans have mals
formly gained a lirge percentaye of nctals, over its competiters, as
well asa stlil larger pereentage in the amount of work performed.
*,* These Pans may be seen in daily aperation at the Miners,
Fonndry, on First strect, San Franelseo, where all interested are i+
ylted to call and examine for thomsel vcs.

To Quartz Miners.
LL PERSONS INTERESTED IN MINING MACHINERY ARE
A invited to call at Donahue’s Fonndry and examine my improved
Amalgamator. Itisunqnestionably superlor to anything now kilowil
tor amalgamuting Silver and Gold. It works 1000 ponnds at a tine,
and wlll amalgamate over three tonsa day. By the motion of the
revolving munier, the pulp Is drawn through Its centre and passes
under it, between the grinding surfnees, to the cireunference;
from wiicnee it passes again over the muller io the centre, througit
the holes and between the grinding surface to the cireunference a3
before. Thns a constant circulation of the pulp Js kept np, bringing
the particles of ore again and again wnder the muller, and reducing
the whole niass to an Inipalpable powder.
No qniek: ies between the surfaces tobe gronnd, but at the
cireumtere 1 e of the pau wiliere the metal must pass
through it as the pnlp clrcvintes,
A patent was granted for this Amalgamator In December last, and
all persons are agahr warned against purchasing niachines made at
the Miners’ Fonndry, called "Wheeler's Ainalsamator,” as they are
an infringement on iny patent, and a suit Is vow pending in the UW.
S. Circuit Court ayninst the ies infringing. My vAntel genta tors

their operation and the very superior style li whielt they are being
manufactured, TUOMAS VARNEY,
