Jn addition to oor war troubles, the increasing probabilitios of a general Mnropcan disturbanee is exerting an impor tant influenee npon the market everywhere. Prices are firm, with an npward tendeney. Inos.—The iren trade fully maintains the improvement manifested during the past few months. In the British niarket, at Iatest dates, orders were on hand ia many localities for two and three months ahead. The demand for railways and shipbuilding is greatly on the inercase. Sweedish has slightly declined, while English iron and Scotch pig is im great deinaud. Quotations in London, are at £3 108; rails £7@ £7 10s at the works. In New York we quote a sale of 50 tons Refined English Bar, at $100, cash. “We quote Scoteh pig ut $43@$S45 per ton, caslt, bnt job lots command higher rates; American, No.1, Pig at $42@$45, Nos. 2 and 3 do. are more pleuty aud eomparatively mueh lower ; Swedish Bar, at $135 ; English Refined do. at $95@$100 ; do. Sheet at 614@S8e. per ib., and Russia do. at 22)3e. Corrrr.—The London market is steady. holders firm. But few sales except in second hands. Some little business doing in foreign at nominal prices. Burra Burra is quoted at from £99@£10; Rapuuda, at £102. The eopper ore market has been somewhat flnetnating. On the first of November it had advanced abont £1 103; on the Sth it still further improved to the extent of £2 10s; deelined slizhtly onthe 12th, and still further on the 19th. At the four Cornish sales of ore during the month of November [4,768 tons wero disposed of, with an average assay of 614 per cent. Jn New York, at latest dates, refined ingot was less animated, with prices firm at 27'4(@38c. Tix.—Unnsettled, with 2 downward tendency in the British murket. Winslow, the founder of the Press, dicd in this eity on Monday last, and his funeral was attended at Dashaway Hall on Wednesday. We were not personally acquainted with Mr. Winslow, bot learn that he wasa person gentlemanly in manners, of gencrous impulse and adventnrous spirit. Some weeks ago the deceased resened a child from drowning by leaping into the bay. From a scratch r. ceived upon his person and the cold taken hy this operation, his death by erysipelas oecurred. Like most printers, his eonneetion with the press was varied, and now, as thie ills of life aro o’er, we trust, whatever may have been the errors upon his * proof sheets” here, he has taken a clear “ revise” to the “ Master” above. Mr. W. started this journal] under the name of “ The Scientific Press,” but his eonnection with the same eeased after the issue of a few numbers, San Fnaneiseo Boarn or-Brokers.—This Board voted, yesterday. to hold two sessions a day hereafter. We understand that the prospeets of this Board are highly flattering. Its membership is full and its sessions well attended. The business before the Board is rapidly inereasing. The reports which we give this week, it will be observed, by eomparison with reports of previous weeks, exhibit a large iuerease of sales. We are pleased to notice these gratifying evidenees of progress. hey also indicate an increased interest on the part of the public iu transactions in mining stocks.
