Prepictioy Veririep.—An Wastern paper
says that i 1860 Simon Cameron told Jefferson Davis that if the South seceded he would
plant corn in the streets of Charleston, S. C.
To keep his promise, Mir. Cameron went to
Charleston last spring, planted some corn in a
street, and puta soldier to watching and attending to it. The other day he got a package
of four ears of carn by Adam’s Express as the
fruit of his enterprise. 3
A MODEL miniature locomotive, made of
gold and silver, with a ruby for a head light,
and costing $4,000, is on exhibition at Tannton, Massachusetts. ‘I'he wheels are driven by
clock work.
