206 Ghe Wining mul Scientific Press. Sunxer Frvirs.—Acids prontote the separation of the vile from the blood, which is then passed from the system, thus preventing fevers, the prevailing diseases of Summer. All fevers are billious—that is, the bile is in the blood. Whatever is antagonistic to fever is cooling. It ig a common snying that fruits are “ cooling, aud also berries of every description ; it is because the acidity which they contain aids in purifying the blood. Hence, the great yearnings for greens, and lettuce, and salads in the early Spring, tbese being eaten with vinegar ; hence, also, the taste for something sour, for Jemonades, on an attack of fever. But this being the cuse. it is easy to see that we nullify the good effects of fruits and berries in proportion as we eat them with sugar, or even sweet milk or cream. If we cat them in their natural state, fresh. ripe, perfect, it is almost imossible to eat too many—to eat cnongh to nrt us, especially if we eat them alone, not taking any liqnid with them whatever. More than 300 dend bodies which were found in New York and the harbor last year, were buried without recognition. QUICKSILVER FOR SALE BY Ss. EF. BUYVTERWORTIL Northwest cor. Thut is, ihe respective inullers being of the same diameter, same weight, same hardness, and ruaning at the same velocity “The Excelsior Grinder and Amalgamuator’” will reduce one hundred and seventy-seven tons of ore, the Flat Bottomed Pan ninetyeight tons, and the Conical Pan one hundred and ten tons to the same degree of fineness in the samo time. Tho wear to the Shoes and Dies at their grinding surfices in the Excelsior Grinder and Amalgamator, is perfectly uniform, thus securing evenness of reduction to the pulp, as well as steadinese of inotion to the muller. Uniform wear of tho grinding plates has been attained in no other than that of the Tractory form—nor can it be. : Another property of excellence in this machinc is that the metal or substance to be amalgamated passes direct from the grinding surfuces into the quicksilver ; thus excluding tho possibility of its becoming coated with any foreign substances, after having been burnished. It is truthfully said “that tho Tractory-formed Pan as 2 Grinder has no cqnal, and as an Amalgamator no superior.” As a whole, it is far superior to auy other pan in uso.
