The Biining and Scientific Lress, 29 Palmer’e mill, last week, yielded $40 to the ton. The mines at Quaker Will are payiug well. The claims of Jacobs & Surgent aro yielding large amounts. ‘he result of the last ten duys was $1,800. The claime are very extensivo and will pay for years to come. It is etuted that the “ Homeward Bound ” cluim, near Grass Valley, has been gold on private terms to parties in this city. he report thut the “ Eniperor”’ had sold his—the “ Eureka ’mine-—for $100,000, is contradicted. It is said that $60,000 have been realized from this mine the past month. The claim owned by H. Barnett and Geo. D. Reoherts, near Union Ifill, has been sold for $200,000. Sierra Cocyty.—We condense the following items from the Messenger: .A company from Eureka are about to commence proepecting tlhe old Craycroft diggings on the ridge between the North’aud Middle forks of the Yuba river. ‘Iliese diggings paid very well at ouo timo, but have been ubaudoued since the Frazer river excitement. ‘he last clean up of the Kanaka mill gave some nine thousand dollars ag tho result. The Union Quartz Company, at Wet ravine, have got the ledge after one year’s labor, running a hed rock tunnel which cost them from five to twenty dollars per foot. ‘The ledge is very rich, and it is said they renlized $57,000 for twelve days’ ran. A valuable quartz discovery is reported at Jackson's Ranch, ou the Ifeaness Pass road. Several ledges lave been discovered, showing free gold in abuudance. Hxtensive preparations aro being inade to start the Gold Valley Quartz Mill. ‘Phey have a fine mill and ledge, that wil supply auy amouut of quartz that assays from $40 to $200 per ton. ‘The difhculty has been to save the gold, which is all ia the sulphurets. Mr. Smith, the superintendent, proposes to try the roasting process. It will succeed. Purmae.—The Quincey Union chronicles the following: Mining on the North Fork hae taken a new etart this ecason. There are over twenty new claims being opened. All of the “bank” claims are paying well. There are more men at work in that locality thau there have been for ycars before. Fyheart & Co., at Humbug Valley, are at, work in their claims, and are averagiug about one-half ounce per day. ‘Tripp, Cable & Co., on the North Fork, for one day’s work of three men, took out eight ounces from their claim, one day last week. Their claim averages one ounce per day to the hand. The Cosmopolitan Company has made © contract with Messrs. Bolinger & Blood to furnish them with two thousand tons of ore from the Cosmopolitan (Northern) Copper Ledge. It is reported that Bidwell & Co. intend building a large twenty-four stamp steam quartz mill, at Greenville, to work the quartz from the McClellan Ledge. Bidwell & Co's mill, located at Greanville, recently took out $17,000 in one month’s run, with eleven stamps. Siskivou—The New York Quartz Company, two weeks ago, took out of their claims $900 in gold, ard 500 lbs, of very rich sulphurets, in six days’ ran. The Klamath News says the continued dry weather promises a, great obstacle to euccessful mining operations on the Klamath during the coming Summer. ‘The snow on the mountains is fast disanpearing, the river falling, and the little streams upon which the miners depend for their supply of water are falling rapidly. .
