She rining wil Srieutific Press,
From the Stock Circular of Associated Brokers of the 8. F. Stock & Exchange Board.
San Franeisco, Sarurpay Morninc, November 11th, 1865.
Within the past tivo or three weeks there has been a steady increase
in the demaad for money, with a larger atnount of good business paper
and satisfactory collateruls offering. ‘I'he inquiry seems to have beea
confined to no particular departinent of business ; ali interests having
sbared ia sone degree. ‘The ordinary rate of discouat in bank is aow
114 # cent. per month, and a aumber of uegotiatioas have been made
this week at 144 Geent. Outside loans rule at 11Z@2 % cent., ac
cording to the charaeter of the collateral offeriag,
The receipts of 'I'reasure from Domestic sources, siace our last relerence, amounted to $1,080,000, nearly all of which cainefrom the
nortbern nines of this State, and from Nevada.
Bullion has beea ia active request throughout the week, and sales
of gold bara were made for the steamer of yesterday at 850@860, with
some transactions at even ligher figures. Silver is uuchanged, and is
quotable at par to 14 cent. premium.
Legal Tenders have been rather more active, but at a slight decline,
aad considerable sales were made within » range of 69!g@68iser
closing at 683¢c bid. Our latest telegraphic advices from the East
quote gold at 147.
here has been some improvemeat ia nearly all shares, and the aggregate trausactions show a large increase over last week. A uumber
of seller’s-option coutracts lave been filled, and it is thought that
solae important orders have been executed, with a view to a better
inarket. Advices trom different mines appear to be regarded with
much more favor, aad if all stocks were not now iu such apparent discredit with the public generally, and certain capitalists in this city
would afford the usual facilities to dealers, an early and substaatial
recovery to the market might be coafidently looked for.
Gould & Curry has been in wore favor, asd 20 feet were dealt in,
advanciug froin $1,025 to $1,090, then selliug at $1,100, and closing at
$1,100 asked. Ju running west and south from the station iu the aew
shaft, 200 feet below the 425 feet level, a substantial body of quartz
has been met with, a portion of which carries pay metal. This drift
is to intercept the old interior shaft, in the southern part of the miue
near the Savage line. At this point the existeuce of pay ore was long
since partially demonstrated in siukiag from above, but more thorough
explorations are now to be made. Different portions of the old works
have shown a decided improveaient recently, and it is now estimated
that at least 25,000 tons of ore can yet be taken from the upper levels.
The average yield of the ores reduced last month was about $48 per
toa, and the aggregate receipts amounted to some $165,000.
Savage was very active, and 56 feet changed haads, advaacing from
$760 to $800, buyer 30, receding to $725, rallying to $780, droppiug
to $750, thea selliug at $775@/760, und closing yesterday at $765 bid.
Active operations have been suspeaded in this mine for ten days past,
owing to the re-timbering of the maiu shaft ; meaawbile the company’s
mill has aloae beeu employed iu crushiag ores. A coatract has been
made to renew work in the aew E street shaft (aow 200 feet in depth)
at $18 per foot, aad arrangemeats have also beea made to siak two
new compartments ia the Day shaft. This latter is to attain a depth
of 600 feet, aad will develop the miue 100 feet below the present
lower level. A decided improvemeat bas takea place recently ia the
lower and upper levels of this mine. .
Alpha has been dulf and inactive, and some 17 feet were sold withia
a range of $850 and $790, closing at $790 bid, $800 asked. We can
learn of no new feature in thig claim.
Yellow Jacket was dealt in to the extent of 75 feet, receding from
$750 to $660, rallying to $710, dropping to $665, seller 30, and selling
yesterday at $670 bid. It is said that some promising developmeuts have becn made in the southwest drift from the lower level.
Crowa Point declined trom $720 to $625, rallied to 650, then sold
at $790, aad closed at about $720. The winzes from the 230 feet
level are now down soine 50 feet vertically in good ore. Ja ull about
50 tons of ore per day are uow hoisted to the surface, The water is
subsiding in the 300-teet level, and preparations are being made to
start the drift again. Belcher has been more active, and some 30 feet
were sold at $450(@$400, closing at $400 bid. Large bodies of water
still somewhat interfere with a proper development of this imine.
Ophir has continued to be sustained with steadiness, and 90 feet
were sofd within a range of $385, cash @40734, buyer 30, closing
at $3921%. Advices from this claim are favorable, and it is said that
more substautial indications have bcen met witb in the drift from the
ninth gallery.
Cbollar-Potosi was very actively dealt in, and nearly 500 fcet changed
hands, dropping from $325 to $285, advancing to $340, buyer $30,
receding to $315, rallying to $325, declining to $31744, and selling
yesterday at $310(@$308. During the week ending November 3d,
520 tons of ore were sent to custoni mills, and 630 toas were sold at $8
per ton. The Bajazette ground continues to look well, and the drift
north is said to be in fine ore, which is being breasted out. The drift
south, for the purpose of intcrsectiag the promising deposit of sulphuret ore found lately in the east cross-ent (485-feet level), has been
temporarily interfered with, owing to an influx of water. The old
Chollar workings, between the third and fourth levels, show some
improvement. ‘The new shaft is now down to the drift about to be
opened.
Imperial steadily declined from $175 to 15614, rallied to $174, buyer
30, dropped to $168, and sold yesterday at $160@$157 ex-div. ‘The
Front Gold Hill company have iastituted a suit against the Imperial and
other Gold Hill claims, for the recovery of all ground lyiag oatside of
their square locations; but, the parties defending do not seem to
attach much importance thereto. ‘The Lindaner mill will probubly not
he employed at present, it not being in an efficient condition. No
definite conclusion has been reached in regard to the new shaft. The
productiveness of this mise. at no distant day, will depend materially
upon the progress of that work, and ia the opinioa of maay stockholders, it should not be further delayed.
Hale & Norcross fell from $200 to $150, rallied to $240, aad then
sold at $205@$20714. Empire Mill rose from $175 to $1824, fell to
$162, and closes at $163.
Overmaa has been sold at $50(@3870, closing at $62)4,
from $40 to $45, rallied at $70, and closed at $5734.
Confidence was dealt in at $6214@37724, closing at $76.
The ageregate sales of Stocks, siace Saturday last inclusive, amoaated
to $832,086. :
