302 Ghe Mining ant Scientific Press, GrooraruicaL Location or Austix.—Mr. Wm. Epler, U. S. Deputy Surveyor, arrived in Austin last evening with five assistants, hav~ ing just completed a survey of the fourth standard parallel from the ‘Truckee river, a distance of one hundred and fifty miles eastward, thus completing this parallel three miles east of Grub’s Wells, which is some forty-three miles east of Austin. He commenced this survey on the 18th of September, und finished it on the 241h inst. Mr. Epler states, accordiug to Lieut. Ives’ observations, taken at Lake Bigler, that Austin is located in 89 degrees 29 minut 3 31 seconds north latitude, and 117 dearees 4 minutes. of longtitnde west trom Greenwich ; and that its survey locution is ‘l’ownship 19 uorth, rauge 44 east Monnt Diablo meridian.
