Wm. Epler, U. S. Deputy Surveyor, arrived in
Austin last evening with five assistants, hav~
ing just completed a survey of the fourth standard parallel from the ‘Truckee river, a distance
of one hundred and fifty miles eastward, thus
completing this parallel three miles east of
Grub’s Wells, which is some forty-three miles
east of Austin. He commenced this survey
on the 18th of September, und finished it on
the 241h inst.
Mr. Epler states, accordiug to Lieut. Ives’
observations, taken at Lake Bigler, that Austin is located in 89 degrees 29 minut 3 31 seconds north latitude, and 117 dearees 4 minutes.

The relative grinding capacities of “The Excelsior” Grinder
and Amalgamator, of the Flat Bottomed Pan, and of the Conical
Pan when properly constructed, ave respectively 177, 98 and 110.

same weight, saine hardness, and running at the same velocity
“The Excelsior Grinder snd Amalgamator” will reduce one huadred and seventy-seven tons of ore, the Flat Bottomed Pan ninetyeight tous, and the Conical Pan one hundred and ten tons to the

The wear to the Shoes and Dies at their grinding surfaces in the
Excelsior Grinder and Aimalgamutor, is perlectly uniform, thus
sceuriny evenness of reduction to the pulp, as well as steadiness
of inction to the muller.

or substance to be amalgamated passes direct from the grinding
